Skyrim Throwback – on Nintendo Switch

elder scrolls skyrim nintendo switch review

I’ll preface this with the knowledge that almost everyone knows of Skyrim and many have played it already. Although the game came out 9 years ago it still has a lot of playability today. Whether you’re just trying to find areas that you’ve never explored or creating a whole new build opposite or what you normally play. You can approach the game in so many different ways that it is tough to make two play throughs the same.

I am playing this playthrough of skyrim on the Nintendo Switch. Being able to play the game handheld adds a whole new element to my playstyle that I haven’t had the chance to deal with before. The insane amount of items that you can pick up and go through is ridiculously time consuming but being able to go through everything while watching a movie makes it even more enjoyable. Especially with my inability to just leave things behind that could be worth something.

On top of that bonus when playing handheld the Switch also offers the Amiibo special features. Scanning a “The Legend of Zelda” Amiibo drops a chest into the world that could contain the Hylain Shield, the Champion Tunic or the Master Sword! Getting these items early game are a little overpowered but not crazily so. They are just more of a cool thing to have than anything else.

If you’re looking for something to get into just to kill tons of time this is the fame for you. Whether you’ve played it in the past or not, picking it up to play on the Switch is worth the money and it is definitely something I know I will find myself going back to again and again.

Beyond all that there the game is still extremely captivating. Aside from how great the normal storyline is there are hours upon hours of side quests that you can complete. For example I started turning into a vampire this time, something that has never happened in the past.

All in all this game has shown to me that it once again stands the test of time.

TLDR

Skyrim holds up to the test of time. With the ability to play the game handheld on the Nintendo Switch it adds a whole new element to how much time you can put into the game. Coupled with Amiibo abilities it is definitely a game worth having in your collection.
