War Tech Fighters | Review Roundup

wartech fighters review

Releasing on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch this month, War Tech Fighters has already gathered a following on PC. Reminding me of Gundam Wing, war tech fighters is set in a universe where humans have constructed machines (called war tech fighters) to fight in space against a monstrous threat.

Although the name could have been better (in my opinion) for either the game or the machines but finding out that they are the same gave me a chuckle. The game itself looks very interesting with the ability to fight in space meaning that the enemy can also be above or below you. Those types of games always get the better of me, I sometimes lack the ability to track everything and end up dying more often than not. For those of you who enjoy that type of gameplay this could be right up your alley.

Just like with Warframe I can only imagine that the game will be more enjoyable on the PC than on console. If the port is done well enough I might just end up eating my words, but that’s a rarity with games ported over from PC.

Luckily the game has been out for some time so there are a number of reviews around it already (From the PC version). Taken with a grain of salt, these reviews might help you to decide if purchasing war tech fighters will be right for you when it does become available on console.

WorthPlaying 7/10

“War Tech Fighters is simply good enough. The gameplay seems limited since you don’t get a sense of movement, and specific mech fighting is restricted to quick fights with other mechs and one-hit cut scene kills, but the constant flow of action mitigates that a bit. The side missions and grinding for cash makes up for a lack of multiplayer, and the presentation is fine but nothing feels like it’s state of the art. War Tech Fighters won’t be your next all-time favorite mech game, but you’ll still have a good time rolling through the campaign”

Cody Medellin, Worthplaying.com

Invision Community 7/10

“Overall, War Tech Fighters is a good action arcade-esque game. It’s not a Triple-A title by any means but if you’re seeking some great mindless action with some cool execution sequences, fast-paced gameplay and a bit of a challenge to round things off, War Tech Fighters will not disappoint you. It does, however, get repetitive quite quickly and you may end up moving onto something else sooner rather than later.”

Sahil Lala, Invisioncommunity.co.uk

Game Grin 6.5/10

“War Tech Fighters makes no attempt to be something other than a game about flying a big mech around space and shooting down evil. I can commend developer Drakkar Dev for that, but I just wish there was some more variety coming from somewhere. The customisation is quite deep and varied, it’s just a shame that most players won’t get anywhere near the end before getting bored with the important part: Gameplay. I wouldn’t recommend it for its full asking price, but if you see it on sale and fancy some robot action, you could definitely do worse.”

Roundup

With an average score of 6.8/10 this game has not fared well in the gaming community at large. If you head to Metacritic.com the average user score is a lot higher than the review sites have given the game. Again looking at the reviews of a game from the PC universe before it has been transferred to consoles should be taken with a grain of salt. The game play and controls can differ drastically when switched over.

Happy Gaming everyone.
