I started playing XP Hero while on my way to Mexico for a vacation. Because of that there was a portion of the time that I wasn’t connected to any sort of internet or data service which may have affected the amount of ads that I was seeing. That being said, the ads were minimal even after returning home. To a point that is.
XP Hero was easy enough to get into right away. The walk through made everything very cut and dry without any questions of how to move forward. It was super simple to continue with it even while drowsy on a plane.
Your Hero automatically attacks as you get close to enemies but you need to keep an eye on your health to get out of the battle and back to your base to heal up before you die.
That’s the basics of the whole game really. With upgrades and missions throughout your gameplay there is something to aim for as you’re going through the map. The game is simple but definitely addictive as I was having a hard time pulling myself away from playing.

There is a lot of going back and forth between different areas of the map and the base in order to hand over your haul. As you do you can upgrade your stats to be able to attack bigger and stronger monsters. Defeating bosses will unlock new areas where there are more new monsters to fight.
I only suffered through one ad while I was playing XP Hero. Again I was playing offline sometimes but largely online through wifi at least. That is until I hit level 25. At that point there seemed to be non-stop pop up ads selling me different games and apps. This was happening so frequently and with ads that are definitely targeted towards adults that I have actually stopped playing. I did log in again before writing this thinking that maybe I was remembering it wrong but it annoyed me quickly enough to just close it down again.
Reviews of the game from those who paid for the add free version seem to be loving it and have stated that they feel as if the value of the cost was worthwhile. Being someone who is largely against paying for these games I won’t be going down that road. The nice thing is that there seems to be a long lead time before they really start pushing the adds so you have ample opportunity to really decide if you want to spend the money on the full version as well.
Overall XP Hero was
Time well wasted.
