Jackbox
(I am referencing Jackbox 6 specifically as I have found it the most fun)
This game is basically available everywhere including PC. One of the nicest things about this is only one copy needs to be bought for up to 8 players to play! The basic mechanics of the game is that it runs through the console or PC and shows up on the screen. Players log into the game through their phone so make sure your battery is charged up! It’s that simple. There are six mini games within Jackbox, some more fun than others, that you can compete through. Trivia Murder Party 2 and Push the Button! are both extremely entertaining games that usually get us yelling at the screen (and each other). Find all Jackbox games at jackboxgames.com.
Towerfall Ascension
Another fun game where you can either play co-op together or verses. The concept of the game may seem too basic in nature but believe me that only adds to the fun. Timing your shots perfectly while bouncing off walls, trying to get power ups for your arrows and keeping track of your limited number of arrows all plays into how royally screwed you can find yourself in this game. That doesn’t mean you can’t make a comeback though! Some of the final moments in a match can be the most exciting time during your whole quarantine!
Overcooked 1 and 2
I will admit right off the bat that we were unable to beat this game. The strategy required to make it happen is unbelievably frustrating a lot of the time. The satisfaction of completing a level is unreal. Being able to coordinate to the extent to complete these levels will either tear you and the other players apart or create a bond that will last a lifetime. I couldn’t tell you how many times I sent out the wrong dish or accidentally threw an item off the screen only to run out of time before being able to recover. Although it was extremely frustrating and still incomplete I am very happy that we purchased this game in the first place. It helped us pass numerous hours with laughs (and yells).
Super Smash Bros
(any variation of this game will suffice)
One of the best classic couch coop games every created! Nintendo keeps killing it with each release of a new Super Smash Bros but that doesn’t mean that you won’t enjoy any one that you can get your hands on! Beating your enemies characters to a pulp on screen while they attempt to get one over on you is a fantastic was to get through the days. Especially when you end up in sudden death overtime and they charge at you only to run over the mine that you placed earlier completely taking them out!(Looking at you Chris).
If you have a Nintendo system I would highly suggest grabbing the version of this series that works for you and get ready to blast your way through numerous fights. Complete the solo missions to better your skills and bet your roommate dish duty to the loser! Happy Brawling!
Stay safe out there by not going out at all! And remember, you can’t beat your annoying housemates but you can beat their characters!!
