Among The Sleep | A Nintendo Horror Experience

among the sleep

So I started looking for a creepy horror game to play on the Nintendo switch recently and it’s been tougher than I thought. I should have realized that a Nintendo console wouldn’t cater to the gory horror genre too well but it looks as if they’re planning on accommodating those of us with a skewed sense of entertainment.

They have released the Resident evil games for the Switch which are a blast! Thing is if you’re a fan of the horror genre you’ve likely played them and would prefer to spend your money on something new and exciting. Well we might have found something to scratch that itch!

Enter; Among The Sleep!

Among the Sleep Trailer | Nintendo, Youtube.com

In first person horror games it can be notoriously hard to justify the characters logic. “Why can’t I grab a f—ing weapon or something!” is not an uncommon feeling in the genre, but being helpless can sometimes add to the experience. Among The Sleep solves that logical dilemma in a very unusual way, by making the character a toddler! Now the characters lack of weapons makes sense! Why would a little baby be carrying around a 2×4 or hammer. Hell, they wouldn’t be able to even if they did come up with the idea. Aside from a Teddy Bear, what’s a toddler going to equip..

You may be thinking “Yeah, playing as a baby doesn’t sound like it’s for me, I like a real scare” but let me assure you this game will have your anxiety going wild. Watch some Scary Scenes from Among the Sleep!

Although the cartoonish styling of the game may detract from the experience for some people I believe that you’ll get past that after just a short amount of playing. This tends to be the just about the same time that the tension starts to get to you.

So if you’re looking for something to play to get you jumping I would suggest taking a look at Among The Sleep. We’ll be coming out with a full review later.

Available on PC, XBOXPlaystation and Nintendo Switch
